The theme of this online meeting on January 20th was climate change. This online meeting was a bit different, because everyone was at home, the students in Greece and the students in the Netherlands. The connection was terrible and that took a lot of time.
We began with talking in breakout rooms about the situations with covid and how we do this with school etc. in The Netherlands the schools are open, but when there are too many covid cases in a class that class goes home and goes into quarantine. In Greece, most schools were already closed because of the many cases. It was hard to have a ‘real’ conversation, because the groups were small and we couldn’t hear one another due to Wi-Fi problems. After this we made bigger groups and this worked out better, because you have a bigger chance of talking to at least a few students without any problems.
As we already said, the theme was climate change. We made an exercise in the bigger breakout rooms. The exercises were about climate problems in the Netherlands and in Greece, that happened not too long ago. The exercise was fun, because sometimes you had to search some things up when no one knew the answer and we genuinely learned from this. When we were done in the rooms we returned to the main room and ms. Oversteeg showed us a video about this topic and after this we were allowed to leave the zoom session after 1.5 hour.
Overall there were some problems that costed a lot of time, but it was an educational and enjoyable zoom meeting.
